Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-ju - ep2: If you come into my heart

Lol, just when I thought Joon-hyung would turn out to be prince charming, no sooner does he get out of the pool, his face breaks into this cheeky grin and he calls out to Bok-ju as none other than"chubby", presumably her childhood nickname. He recalls her nickname with a fondness of sorts, but still, why go there Joon-hyung, just why!!? /nobigdeal

This whole sequence was just hysterical coz Joon-hyung's reaction to their reunion is at massive odds with Bok-ju who merely lets out this small awkward laugh as she trudges away swiftly, while he's like this massive energiser bunny - overly excited and a total eager beaver who's already looking forward to their next meeting. Hee, this is going to be so. much. fun! /wahaha

We're only two eps in, but seeing Joon-hyung bopping around like a mischevious schoolboy who enjoys pulling on a girl's pigtails is frigging funny as hell, albeit annoying (for Bok-ju)! I love how he just pops up wherever Bok-ju goes, making no effort to hide his excitement when he sees her - /hihi

Pfft, he's totally smitten by her in that imma enjoy teasin her until I get the reaction that I want kinda way!! He may not know it, but we certainly do! The look of anger/mortification on Bok-ju's face whenever he calls out to her is priceless though. He's clearly doing her nut in, and he knows it! Ha! You big meanie, you!! Major props to Lee Sung-kyung for playing Bok-ju with so much energy and passion. She's totally owning her character.

LOL it comes to a point where she literally headbutts him in the face (and deservedly so), and he still lights up like a friggin Christmas tree!! Though he clearly doesn't know when to stop, you gotta love a guy who's can take a blow in the face and still remain perky bout it. Sigh, he just loves getting a rise out of her.

Joon-hyung you crack me up!

The moment when Bok-ju goes out to deliver chicken to Joon-hyung and the lads. As always, he can't help but pester her with questions, taking up precious time and annoying her in the process. What I love about the two in these moments is that even though they're not on the same page, Joon-hyung isn't mean spirited in the way he says/does things, and clearly cares about Bok-ju, but just has this real ass-backward way of showing it! He pesters her with questions because he's worried for her health and well being. And because he's worried about her health and well being, he uses up her time by refusing to pay up until he's savoured the chicken...just so she can get some rest - see what I mean? You're overthinking this way too much, dude. Naturally, he ends up testing Bok-ju's patience, who leaves without taking any money. Yeh, you feel those pangs of guilt Joon-hyung, that's what you get for being a muppet.

Side note: It's moments like this where you can see Nam Joo-hyuk's improved acting. Even though he spelt it out for us that he's worried for her, or that he was being an ass, his facial expressions already laid it down for us. And it's nice that those subtle expressions were so noticeable coz it makes a world of difference in how you end up reading a character.

Though he doesn't realise the moment he's being an ass, at least he realises it as soon he's done being one. The moment when he chases after her and navigates his way round to find Bok Chicken was a nice after-thought, coz it simply shows he cares and that his heart is in the right place.

Ahh, I just love the way his face lights up when he sees her being a filial daughter.

The guy definitely knows how to make amends though because the next time he pays a visit to Bok Chicken, he not only enjoys a bucket of chicken, but he even pays for the chicken he was meant to pay for the previous day, and does so without Bok-ju's knowledge, and without telling the father as such.

The best bit about this scene though isn't the fact that he pays for being such a pain in the butt, but the fact that he sits there, lingering over each of Bok-ju's weightlifting medals. In that moment, he's just like a proud boyfriend seeing his girl Bok-ju succeed at what she does best. Aww, I see hearts in them eyes, Joon-hyung, and they're sparkling like crazy!

I love it when the guy falls for the girls first. And I love it more when he has to work hard to win the girl over! But for now, it's sweet seeing Joon-hyung appreciate Bok-ju for who she is, and more importantly, the way she is. In the screenshot above, I see as much respect and admiration as I see romantic adoration. And that showcases the foundation of a relationship built on sincerity.

Bok-ju & Joon-hyung, you totally had me grinning like an idiot this ep!
